Tutorial : Stone Alphabets

Hey people! It's been a while since there's anything crafty in here, hasn't it? Well, here's a very very short tutorial on making stone alphabets which you could use to decorate books, cards or any other things! It could also be stone drawings rather than just alphabets!
These are how they look like. The plain ones are the back of the 'stones'. The materials for this though, may be slightly harder to find. Instead of using the regular shrink plastic, I cut out styrofoam boxes with the symbol 'recycle 6'

Ignore the disc cover and plastic cutlery in the picture. Be careful when collecting styrofoam boxes/cups/plates for this though, you have to make sure that it has the number 6. Most of the ones I found outside are number 5 - which will not work.
Cut the pieces out into squares/triangles or any other shapes and write an alphabet in the middle.
Place a piece of tin foil sprinkled with baby powder. Then place the cut outs in the oven at 110 degree Celsius for 10minutes. Leave it to cool inside the oven.
They'll come out like this in the end. Slightly yellowish brown with the alphabets in the middle. Hope you enjoyed this post! Woohoo!

Before I go, I've got great news! I just got my IGCSE results, and.... jeng jeng jeng jeng!!!
I'm so happy with my results! I was hoping for an A in math though, but a B is great too! I've improved a lot from before! I'm extremely proud of my Biology results which got an A* with 92 out of 100! And I'm also over the moon that I got A for English First Language. It's not an easy paper, and I thought that I went out of topic in the essay. I was extremely worried about the english paper and was expecting a B or a C though I prayed very hard for an A. God answered my prayers! All glory goes to God!
My physics was a core paper (Easier paper, Maximum C), so I already expected that C. I expected A for Chemistry but was also slightly doubtful as my Chemistry was never as good as the other subjects. Everything turned out well though. The teachers are Sirius Scholar are amazing and they pulled us through. Without them, these results will never come to past!
 In total, my 7 subjects resulted in 3A*, 2A, 1B & 1C.
I am a happy child. A very happy child.

After getting my results, my family and I went to Lowyat to hunt for my new desktop. I'm getting it because I need illustrator for my college work, which is not supported by my laptop. Daddy decided it would be both my birthday present and my reward for good results! Both my parents paid for this super expensive machine, and I love them to bits! Thank you dad & mom! You're the best!
I don't know much about computers, so I got the specs and stuff from my friends and got parts. My brother helped me get some stuff upgraded too. From what I know, it's a superb computer!
My already messy room managed to make space for the new roomie! Well, that's all for today's post! Thanks for dropping by! Love you guys! Cheers! Have a wonderful day!

CNY And A Car Accident

Chinese New Year is here! It's the time of the year where people stuff themselves with yummy food and try to reduce their weight in the days after!
This was our breakfast on Saturday! We ate at Ipoh in the morning then plan to head over to Penang before going to Kedah. We didn't manage to follow our plans though, because, on the way there, something else happened. Oppsie daisies!

7 cars were piled up together. My family's car was the 6th.
Thank goodness Mercs is a hardy car. None of us got injured. Mom had a slight pain on her chest, but it's just a minor thing. Everything else was fine.

The tow truck came, and we sat in the car while being towed!

Ohh.. why put a sad face when you can still smile and brighten up your day in such a situation?
Our first family photo in 2012. What a lovely picture. Anyways, the person at the workshop was nice enough to borrow us a Gen 2 to use. We transferred all our stuff and went straight to grandma's house in Kedah. Here's a little tour around my grandma's house. Nothing fancy, but still loveable.

Oh! And we found a huge lizard! It's the size of my palm (excluding it's tail) !
It looks a little like a fish in the picture, doesn't it? My uncle caught it and released it outside.
Reunion dinner (Dad's side of the family)
Mom's trying to take a picture of her and dad with the front camera!
We went over to my other grandma's house the next day. Grandma stays with one of my uncle.
 Uncle's new puppy - Lucky!
Playing 'The Message' with cousins! We had more players, but they were busy washing dishes when I took this picture.
My grandma from mom's side.
My grandma from dad's side.
Here are a few pictures of my niece and nephews. And me of course!
My youngest niece. It's pretty hard to get her to smile. Tickling her doesn't work either.
Mynn Mynn, she's always happy to be in pictures!

Zjern Zjern. Mynn's brother. He likes to take pictures of things rather than being in the pictures.

Well, that's all for today's post! I shall post more tomorrow. I just got my IGCSE results yesterday, so I might post about that, and maybe another post on I.O Camp which I promised, but haven't done so. Toodles!

I.O Camp 2012 January Winner !

Rawr! That boy in the picture is Ryan Lee. Ain't he adorable? There was once where I sang in front of a few people (including him) and he said my voice was perfect though I stammered due to shyness throughout most of the song. So touching to hear a kid say that. He said : "Wahh. So perfect eh the voice." *melts*

Anyways, today's post - as the title stated - would be Beautiful 2012. This year has been an amazing year for me, though it's only January still. Here's a few small glimpse of my wonderful 2012 life so far.

First of all - New Year's Eve, where was I? I was hanging out with a bunch of people in ss15 McD. Yeap, ss15 McD for New Year's Eve. How could that be so great? Well, I met tons of new friends and we all played boardgames there. It's a simple way of celebrating, not much of a countdown, but it's still as fun. I tend to feel very happy and excited meeting new people. It's just great to have new friends! Few days after, I had my very first movie night with the usual group (Justin, Yong Loon, & Ethan Soh), but this time with another guy named Jeremiah whom I met during Chrome Heart practices.
*Note : If you missed Chrome Heart, be sure to borrow my dvd and mark out Easter 2012 on your calender! Really, it's superb!*
I was really excited for the 5th and 6th of January. You know why? Well, it's my college orientation days! I was really excited for college then and was jumping about everywhere. It may not be the most interesting orientation ever, but I still had fun. I made new friends and met old friends too! We even had activities on the 2nd day - more friends to meet! It was great! Just lovely. On the 6th, I went to IO CAMP 2012 right after college orientation and everything. I almost didn't plan to go, but am glad I decided to go in the end. My team was called Youtube and it was built up by amazing individuals (Jeremiah Vun, Kee Yew, Chin Soon, Chen Han, Ben Pang, Wennishe Wong, Amy Chan, Evangeline Ang). This was what happened :
My Youtubers and I won first place overall! We even got best drama - which we planned in less than 30minutes time. I was really surprised and am very very proud of them, from the bottom of my heart! You could even see the joy radiating from their faces where their smiles grew from one end to the other. On the following Saturday, a surprise was given as we had our reunion.

A trophy was passed down to the winning team's team leader (me) to be kept and passed down to next year's winning team. It has all the winning members' names engraved on a gold plate. This year, the trophy is 2 years old. And it'll be used for 5 years in total. I'll continue on with IO CAMP 2012 stories in another post (after CNY I suppose). So stay tuned! Other than those above, I finally got to spend time with Ling Wai on a secret crafty project! We've been talking so much about craft before on Facebook and the time has finally come where we got together to take action! It's a secret project for now though, you'll be updated soon. No worries. The whole process in trying it out to see if it works was fun.

On 17th January, my heart was out of control, jumping all around with a full bar of energy! It's the day where tickets for WongFuProductionsKL is being sold at Taylor's Lakeside! I have classes and couldn't get it myself. So I passed some money to one of my friend from another college in the morning, and he helped me get tickets for both him and I. I was in college when my friend called me. He told me that the queue was extremely long (I knew he had classes at 11am, and it was already 10:50am+ at that time) and they are planning to sell Feb 4th's tickets today as well. That everything would be gone today and that's that. My friend also said that the VIP tickets are selling out real fast, and he's not sure if he could even get the normal tickets. In my mind, I was pretty sure it would be VERY hard to get the tickets, and it's pretty possible that I couldn't get it too, so it wasn't really a surprise to me that he said he may not be able to get it. I just told him it's okay then, that he should better hurry off for classes instead of waiting in line. Then, all of a sudden, he said "Just kidding! We've got 2 VIP tickets for WongFu!". My heart burst in joy and I couldn't believe it. I kept asking him if it was true, that he wasn't kidding. And he really wasn't! So yeah, WongFuProductions, HERE I COME!
I'm so excited! I can't wait. I want to get an awkward rhino too! *Jolene Lew is teaching her money to fly in January 2012. Hopefully they'll come back to stay February onwards*
And that, is pretty much all I have to say about my Beautiful 2012 so far. January is lovely. There's still something more actually. Something that is really really wonderful and pretty amazing, but I'll save that for next time.

One of the chocolates that I love because there's tiny round biscuit things inside. Tiny round ones, not one big round biscuit. It's covered in milk chocolate. Too much of it at a go would be too sweet for me, but I still like it. I couldn't find it anywhere that sells it separately till now - The Cocoa Tree.
Well, that is all for today's post. I'll be heading back to my parents' hometown in a bit. Here's Roxy checking in at her hotel. That's all! Bye people! Have a wonderful day tomorrow and a lovely Chinese New Year with your beloved family! Smile always, as a smile could always help brighten up other people's day! You'll never know. Bye, lovely people who reads this blog!

Bootcamp Again !

Finally, I am back to bootcamp! I've already missed 4 days in this month and am feeling pretty guilty. The first time was because I had college orientation, so I skipped. The second time was when I was at I.O.CAMP 2012 (where they also had a mini bootcamp), third time was because I slept late the previous night, and fourth time was because I missed THREE of my alarms (I didn't even woke once! Probably because I never slept the previous night as I was busy with college work). Anyways, it's good to be back! Thursday was the very first time I went bootcamp by my own transport. I usually follow Justin Wong (2011) or Ethan Soh's car to bootcamp, but this time, I asked my brother to fetch me there. Being very bad at estimation, I reached the destination 40mins earlier. Yes, 40 minutes! I decided to lie on the ground with my bag as a pillow and watch the moon. Fell asleep for a bit too.
 That's me after bootcamp.
My dirty wrinkly shoes after bootcamp.
On Friday, I randomly felt like drawing even though I knew I had college work to finish. I finished my 6th drawing book and started my 7th drawing book with this. I drew and am satisfied with how it is, have a look :

There's a little problem with the eye I suppose, but it's like that from the original picture as well. Other than drawing, I have also been making a card for a dear leader (Andrew Lau Junior) of mine who's leaving for studies.
I printed out patterned paper instead of buying them from bookshops.

End result of the card's cover. That's all I have to share for today's post! Anyways, here's a little someone I'd like to show you. I made her from scratch with Illustrator in college!
in the making..
End result! Tadaa! Meet Pandan the Panda! She's going to have two paws on the screen and perhaps some bamboo soon too! That's all! Bye! Thanks for reading!
