Doodled Wedding Keychain

Last year, I was invited to a wedding. As usual, the crafty me thought of making something special.
I wanted to make a upturned glass display piece but it was not very practical. Further more, they'll be moving away after some time and it'll probably be a bit troublesome to bring along.
A couple of days passed and I noticed this on the groom-to-be's instagram. It was a drawing the bride-to-be did long back. I thought it was pretty cute and decided to make two keychains with the exact same drawing for the both of them.
And so I got to work!
This is the outcome. It's slightly different from each other as its handmade, though still very much similar.

From left to right. From paper, to ...uh.. plastic?

Well, that's all for now!

Coloured Pencil Fox Drawing

I always draw only with mechanical pencil. Black and white. Exceptional for a peacock colour drawing I did once. Anyways, now I decided to try it out again.. on a fox. It was sort of better than expected I guess, but then again not exactly what I want.
I started our drawing the outlines with pencil and darken with black colour pencil. Then, coloured in more details of the ears, eyes and muzzle area.

I figured I'd start with the fox's muzzle. Wasn't exactly sure how to blend it out. But I tried and I think it looked quite alright.
I think this is the best part of the drawing. Somehow, I felt that it's nicer this way than the completed piece. What do you think?
Here's a bigger photo. I think it's really really nice like that. I shouldn't have complete the full thing should I? haha!! Then again, I'd never know how it'd turn out if I don't.
Bit by bit, I started finishing more of it.
and Walah!!! DONE!!!
I think he looks fine.. just.. well, there's still lots of space for improvements.

That's all for now. For more crafty journeys,

Tutorial : Clay Baby Sven (Frozen)

Hi everyone!! I've posted this completed photo of Sven from Frozen I made with clay on my instagram some time back, but only had the chance to post its tutorial now. So here goes :

What you'll need :
1) Clay (Brown, White/Beige, Dark Brown, Black-optional)
2) Clay tools if available
3) Scissors (small ones if available)
4) Wires
5) Glue / Bake N Bond
Using the brown clay, pinch out an appropriate amount of clay for Sven's head, body (with legs) and hands. To make the body, roll out a cylinder shape and cut the bottom into half. Then, gently use your fingers to smoothen it out to form rounder legs. Use a toothpick or your clay tools to draw a line at the top of the legs then push the cylinder body down on the table top and gently use your hands to help push the legs up as shown in the photo.

Make Sven's hands the same length as the feet or slightly longer. I also made them skinnier than Sven's feet.
Now, to make the head. Roll a ball shape and gently use your finger to roll one side till the whole piece has a teardrop shape. Then, Poke two holes on it's head for Sven's antlers later on (it will be attached with a wire so it doesn't fall out easily). I used a ball tip to poke the sides of Sven's head for it's ears. Leave it aside to dry (for air dry clay).
Next, we're making Sven's hands and feet hoofs. Make 2 larger balls of dark brown and 2 slightly smaller balls of dark brown for this.
Press them down gently on the table so its flat on both ends. Use your tool/toothpick to press down once side till it's slightly to the middle (as shown in the photo above). Use glue to stick Sven's hoof to his legs. Repeat the same thing for his hands.
Sven has some white/beige colour around his eyes. I made two flat pieces to stick it on and blended the sides out as much as I could.
Sven's muzzle is made with dark brown clay (it looks a little maroon-ish though) and a ball tip is used to make his nostril and a sharp clay tool is used to draw a line for his mouth.
Put them together and it should look like this.

For the ears, take a ball of brown clay shaped into a droplet shape, and a smaller ball of beige clay shaped into a droplet shape as well. Press them flat together and use a clay tool to press it from inner ear outwards. Meaning the rounded end to the sharp end.
Sven from Frozen has white 'chest hair'.
So, I rolled out a thin piece of clay about x2 size of it's neck. I shaped the back a little rounder for the 'fluff' effect? and used a scissors to cut up strips in front. I did a second layer the exact same method. I poked a hole with my wire for attaching the head later on.
I added 2 tiny brown clay for Sven's eyes then added the eye whites.
Let's give Sven a little tail. Again, you can use scissors or a needle to make the tail ends.
Make the antlers by rolling white/beige clay around a wire for the main piece, then add a small piece to the side blending it together. Leave a tinsy bit of wire at the ends and poke it down the head. Use glue to secure it better.
I then painted the white part black. You can use black clay for this as well. I initially did a small black dot where you can see the whites still, but Sven from Frozen looked a little scary with that. So I painted it full black in the end.

The End!
Hope you enjoyed my tutorial on making Baby Sven from Frozen with clay!

Tutorial : Bunny Puppet

Hi everyone! As you all know, Easter is just around the corner!
I don't know how you're spending Easter, but I'll be going to a children's Easter event!

For the event, we will be having a little puppet show! We don't have a little bunny for our Easter puppet show though, so we'll make one!

What you'll need :
1) Fabric (3 colours for the body, ear/nose, and eyes)
2) Sewing thread
3) Round head pins
4) Sewing needle
5) Scissors
6) Paper and pencil
The design is very very simple. Place your hand on a piece of paper, draw a 'door' shape with it's width slightly wider. That will be the bunny's body, and all you need to do is add it's hands! Simple enough? (:

Place your hand above to test that it fits. Make sure there are seam allowance. If all is okay, cut it out on 2 pieces of fabric (I used white). With the front facing inwards, use the round head pins to keep everything in place.

Next, draw and cut out the ears as you wish. You can cut out trials first to see how it looks before starting to sew.
Remove the round head pins from the bunny's head (Those on the body remains) flip it out, and sew the bunny's eyes and nose. When that is done, sew the bunny's ears (inner ear on outer ear). Then, place the ear inside the 2 pieces of cloth for the bunny's body. Make sure the surface (pink side) of the ear is facing TOWARDS the bunny's nose. This is to make sure when the puppet is flipped inside out, the ears face frontwards. Pin everything back, and start sewing the sides.

When you see something like this, means you've done it right.
To make the head area less flimsy, cut out a dome shape from any light coloured fabric. Sew it and put some stuffing into it. This gives the bunny's head a little support.
Now it's time to flip it out! Turn it inside out and pull out those ears!
 Tadaa! What an adorable bunny!
Use a needle to pull out those hard to reach areas (hands etc)
You can also add a little fluffy tail for the bunny if you want.
And it's done! A very simple tutorial on a bunny/rabbit puppet!

Tutorial : Jake Dog Adventure Time Clay Figurine

This is suppose to be brighter, but I have no idea why it doesn't load so.
Hi Everyone!
Today's all about "How to make Jake from Adventure Time!"

Who is Jake? Jake is a magical dog with stretchy powers (which explains his wavy hand above) from the cartoon - Adventure Time!
His best buddy is Finn who will probably appear in the next few post.

What you'll need :
1) Clay (Yellow, Black, White)
2) Craft Tools if available
3) Wire (optional)
4) Glue
First off, roll a fat oval shape with yellow clay for Jake's body.
Next, make 2 tiny balls and pinch one end slightly to form a water droplet shape. Do the same for both tiny balls of clay. This will form the ears. Attach it to both sides of the head and press the sharper end down and blend it onto the head.
Use a rolling pin or a pasta machine to make Jake's eyes. His eyes are completely white with a black outline. Flatten the black piece of clay and use mini circle cookie cutters or anything round (I used a pen cover) to cut the black circles out. Then, take 2 equal pieces of white clay, roll it into a ball and press it down. Make sure it's slightly smaller than the outer black piece. Glue the black piece on Jake's head, and then the white piece on top.
Jake Dog's muzzle is fairly easy to make. Roll out a longer piece of yellow clay with the middle thinner than both sides. Use your finger to bend it to form a 'V' shape. Then, roll out a tiny round black clay and attach the 'nose' to its muzzle.
Before attaching the muzzle, I rolled a very very tiny long thin strip for the mouth (You can see it on the picture above and below). I attached it to the muzzle on both ends before attaching the entire thing on Jake's Face.
Roll long strips of yellow for Jake's arms and legs. You can make it as long as you want as Jake from Adventure Time has those magical stretchy powers! I made ok-length legs so he could sit properly, but decided to play a little more with his hands. Attach his legs to the bottom and smoothen it out. Use glue or wire if needed.
To make his wavy arms, I just bent it wherever I like with something round (You can use pencil/pen) and to keep it up, I placed a toilet roll tube for support. Leave it to dry (or bake if using oven baked clay) and tadaa!
Now you can have your very own Jake Dog from Adventure Time!
You can make a whole bunch of him doing silly things!

Don't forget to come back and look out for Finn from Adventure Time!
