I've Moved to www.craftysupermom.com

MOVED TO CRAFTYSUPERMOM.COM !!!!

Hi everyone!
It's been a while since you see any activity in this site. Reason being is that I have moved over to http://www.craftysupermom.com ! I absolutely love how it turned out and am very happy with the results.

My views here in blogspot has been increasing, and I am very pleased with that! However, I wanted to give you guys more to see and thought it'd be best to have my crafts more organized in a prettier site. More of an eye candy than an eye sore! I also always wanted it to seem more proper with a .com! Thus, I make the decision and moved. I apologize for not announcing it here earlier, it slipped my mind. I thought I had mentioned but I didn't.

Anyways, this blog will remain here, but all new postings will be up on Craftysupermom! Some of my old posts from this site has also moved its way to that new site. I hope to see you guys there!! Leave me some comments too!

Gong Xi Fa Cai; Chocolate Horse Greeting

Hi Everyone! Happy Chinese New Year!
I'm back in my hometown now. We dropped by Penang before we head to Kedah and found this lovely place - Chocolate Passion.
The environment is pretty nice. Can be pretty cooling outside (it depends, was a little hot when we first arrived and then breezy after)
We came after dinner and was pretty full, so all we had was churros with milk chocolate dip. They had a lot of other chocolatey goodness too! Like one they called 'Chocolate Bomb', apparantly, it's a ball that will burst open (no explosions included) when you pour warm chocolate on it or something. I'm hoping to try that if we get the chance to head back to Penang before going home.
When the churros finished, there were plenty of dip left! We ate some just by itself, but it was really sweet. So, I decided to do what I always loved to do! DRAW!
Since it was the horse year, I started drawing the head of a horse.
Then added 'Gong Xi Fa Cai'
It was still really plain and I wasn't sure what to add on. Lanterns would look a little funny I thought..
I tried flowers and I think they look pretty nice!
...and Craftysupermom is my instagram name.

That's all!

Tutorial : Polar Bear Breakfast

Hi everyone! I think polar bears are one of the cutest animals in the world!
My mom always told me not to play with food, but honestly, I didn't think that idea stayed in my mind for long.. becauseeeee....

What's this?
A tutorial on how to make your very own polar bear breakfast!
 Isn't it beary adorable?

What you'll need :
1) Bread
2) Cream cheese (or other white spreads)
3) Scissors
4) Spread Knife
5) Blueberries

Firstly, cut out the body. It looks like a video game controller in my opinion.
Then, cut the head, tails and ears. Simple isn't it? Just playing around with different sizes of circles/rectangles. If you want to make a big head like I did, cut out a support piece.
Put the pieces all in place and plan how you want it to look like.
Spread cream cheese all over. It somewhat acts like a 'glue' as well. The support piece can help hold up the head.
Put everything in place and add blueberries for the eyes and nose!
If you have yogurt or any other stuff at home, you can always add them on to make words!
I didn't have much to say that morning, so I just added the words 'Love'
That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this.

Tutorial : Elephant Themed Breakfast

I am an Ele-friend! Yay!
Earlier this year, I made this circus elephant-themed breakfast for New Year!
It's really simple and I just used things I had at home.

What was used :
1) Layer cake
2) Bread
3) Grape Jam (Stolen from McDonalds)
I cut a piece of layer cake as a stand.
Then cut bread with a scissors into an elephant shape. There were 3 parts (body, ear, trunk/nose). I also cut a tinsy bit on the back of the body making the elephant's tail.
From the excess layer cake, I cut a circle with a knife. I wanted to make it into a ball but thought it looked funny. So I changed it after.
I added grape jam and made words saying "Happy New Year" with excess layer cut that was trimmed of the stand.
and ta-daa !! That was my breakfast of the day.

Tutorial ( Food Art ) : Bunny At The Beach Breakfast!

Bunny At The Beach Bread Tutorial
Hi everyone! I've recently (well, not exactly very recent.. about a few months back), fell in love more and more with food art! I've actually been doing it since years back but they were all minor ones (smiley faces, bears, etc; just creating form what was already served). It was only recently that I decided to do more. Starting the food art from scratch! It's pretty fun.

Today we'll be making the Bunny At The Beach!

What is needed :
1) Plain bread
2) Two different coloured spread of your choice
3) Cheese
4) Hard boiled egg

Place your plain bread on a tray or something to keep the table from being dirty.
Cover it in your two different coloured spread like the above. I used milo powder (using kaya as glue) and peanut butter for this food art.
Then, I cut out cheese to form the sun.
Here's a bigger picture of the sun.
 Moving on,
Slice the hard boiled egg into half. Forming the body of the bunny. Then, cut 4 short strips and 2 long strips for the bunny's hands, legs, and ears! Place it on the bread like the above. Then, cut out a little sandcastle for your bunny food art with cheese!

You're pretty much done. Add in the eyes and the nose carefully.
Something feels pretty empty still.. so I added...
a shirt!

And tadaa! The bunny bread food art is done!
and the bunny shall be eaten. Opps!

Bye bunny!
Have fun with your food art!

My Attempt On Salmon Porridge

Once upon a time, I ate a superbly delicious porridge. It was soooo good that I just had to try making it! And thus the salmon porridge experiment.

I was pretty excited when I came across this whole chunk of salmon at only Rm12 in Empire's Jaya Grocer. It's much cheaper as they are mostly parts that are unwanted (bones, tail and everything). I thought it was a great idea to use it and try out the salmon porridge. So I bought it.
Of course, what's salmon porridge without a nice chunk of salmon meat? I bought this to be added in later so that they'll be pieces to munch on.
Together with my maid (my sensei), we washed the fish and boiled it to make the porridge 'soup'.
When that was done, it was my job to separate all the meat and the bones.
There was soooo much meat! And of course, crazy a lot of bones too! Bones that you'll need super vision to catch.
The meat was added back in the porridge together with some seseme oil, salt and pepper. The bigger chunk of meat from the second salmon was placed on another plate with soy sauce, salt and pepper (taste super awesome!).
 Looks good doesn't it?

Unfortunately.. as they say, looks can be deceiving.
The salmon porridge didn't turn out how I expected it to be. Thank goodness I had that extra piece of salmon meat! What's my mistake? I really don't know, but I think I should've added soy sauce in the porridge too. I guess I'll have to make a second round to figure it out ;) heh!

Betty's Midwest Cook-a-like

Hello! Few weeks back (or maybe a month?), I went to Betty's Midwest for dinner.
It was my very first time, and my boyfriend was drooling over how yummy the 'Pigs In A Blanket' were. I came home thinking if I could actually make it. It didn't seem very hard, and I quite enjoy experimenting with food. And so, I tried making that along with the famous 'Dog Food'.

Here's what I did :
1) Dog Food
I put aside the chedar and mozerella to defrost while I fry the fries. I was hunting for cooking cream, but couldn't find any at home. So I didn't get to fully experiment on this dish. The one at Betty's had a more creamy texture to it. Anyways... I crumbled some cheese with the already cooked fries, mixed them up and crumble more cheese on top.
Then, I just baked it.
Mmmmm (: Yummy!
Wasn't as satisfying though. I think the gravy would play a big part to its yumminess. Shall experiment again real soon!

The 'Pigs In A Blanket' however, turned out extremely awesome! And it's soooooo simple to make!

2) Pigs In A Blanket
Instead of regular cocktail sausages, I used cheesy cocktail sausages.
Grab some strips of bacon, wrap them around the cocktail sausages and put a little toothpick to hold them in place.
Fry it till it looks like cooked sausages crispy brown (especially the bacon).
Place them on top of kitchen tissue to absorb the excess oil.
They should look something like that.
Then, bring out your best honey! (different honey would give a different result).
Drizzle some honey on your marvelous creation.
And there you go! You're ready to munch!
If you're using cheesy cocktail sausages like I did, you'll find the sausage center soft while the bacon covered skin is crispy! The perfect match!

That's all for today! Hope you enjoyed it (:
